How to unblock the popup blocker in Google Chrome

Seen a lot of people with the same problem I have:

There needs to be an option to whitelist a site for popups. The little window in the lower right corner is fine for the occasional popup, but when you are browsing a site where all of the detailed content opens in a popup, it is very annoying to have to mouse over the window in the lower right to open the popup.

According to Chrome forum user Legaia, to turn off popup blocking, edit your shortcut and instead of calling “chrome.exe” change it to “chrome.exe -disable-popup-blocking”. Here’s the thread:  I then used this switch to find loads more:  Of course, this is not a “solution” in the long term, but it’s a workaround until they fix the missing dialogue box.

Even I got the same thing, I have tried several times, but Im still getting the same error message "specified name is invalid".
  • Wow that's creepy. I was perusing the Google Chrome Help forums for a similar question, starting googling for an answer, only to find the answer is MY OWN from a few months ago, linked on your blog. How funny. :)

  • To clarify, it should be (for example)
    "C:\Documents and Settings\THIS BIT WILL BE DIFFERENT\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" -disable-popup-blocking
  • Linda Sonna
I right-click on the Chrome icon, click on properties, change Destination from (I use Windows in Spanish) "C:\Documents and Settings\LINDA\Configuración local\Datos de programa\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" to
    "C:\Documents and Settings\LINDA\Configuración local\Datos de programa\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe -disable-popup-blocking"

But when I click "Apply," I get an error message that says that the specified name is invalid.

I followed your other links to try to figure out how to disable popup blocking, but can't figure out where to put "chrome.exe -disable-popup-blocking".

    Can anyone help?
