Good to see that the law has its priorities right…

Man arrested for barking at dog

Mr Little, of Newbiggin Hall, Newcastle, was arrested in the Chapel House area of the city on January 5.

He had just been warned by police officers who were called to reports of a group of youths who were abusive.

As Mr Little walked away, he spotted a Labrador in a garden and growled at it, causing the dog to become agitated.

He was arrested and convicted of “threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, or disorderly behaviour”. He was later convicted in his absence at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court.

Meanwhile, a couple of years ago…

Man arrested for calling police horse “Gay”

Police have stood by their decision to take Sam Brown to court for making “homophobic comments” despite the Crown Prosecution Service dropping the case.

Mr Brown, 21, a student at Oxford University, had said to an officer: “Excuse me, do you realise your horse is gay?”

Police took the case to court after Mr Brown refused to pay a £80 fine.

His remarks were deemed likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

“He made homophobic comments that were deemed offensive to people passing by.”
